A root canal is an advanced dental treatment used to restore a tooth that has been compromised by a severe cavity or significant dental trauma. This endodontic therapy will effectively replace the internal structure of the tooth with a material sufficient for anchoring a dental crown.
If bacterial tooth decay or dental trauma has severely compromised the root or dental socket Dr. Stacey Eby might recommend a total extraction. Once your gums have healed and any infection concerns have passed he can then replace the tooth’s presence with a dental bridge.
This will replace the missing tooth with one single piece of dental work. It will eventually be anchored onto abutments formed from the core of the two neighboring teeth.
Dr. Stacey Eby will start removing most of the tooth enamel from the two neighboring teeth leaving behind two post-shaped pillars of healthy dentin. A detailed impression will then be prepared for the area and the related teeth in your dentition. This will be sent to a special dental lab where skilled technicians will create your dental bridge.
The second appointment with Dr. Stacey Eby will be needed when your dental bridge is ready. During this brief appointment, Dr. Stacey Eby will cement the dental onto the abutments with a strong dental adhesive.
If you live in the Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, area and you have a badly compromised tooth, you should call 920-563-2928 to seek treatment with Dr. Stacey Eby.
